Sourze:
Hello Erik Hanell, swede living in the area threatened by hurricane Rita. What is the situation over there?
Erik Hanell, Houston, Texas:
We left Houston this morning 3 am to evacuate. As you probably know this is one of the worst hurricanes that has struck US, and we only hope the intense will reduce before landfall. My familly is now "safe" in Austin, after a drive of 12 h normally 3-4. 12 h is considerd as pretty fast, and we are extreamly lucky to be equipped with GPS roads maps so we could find all backroads. If you would have picked any of the evacuation highways, it would most likely have taken upto 24 h.
Sourze:
What do you think of the likelyhood that your home will remain intact through the storm, Erik? Btw what is the insurance situation? Are you covered?
Erik Hanell, Houston, Texas:
Well I got a good insurance so that should not be a problem but in a disaster like this and the recent with Katrina I would not be surprised if some of the underwriters will go bust and wont be able to cover what they promise. The house is pretty new and also pretty much covered from direct wind by other buildings, so we hope for the best. Of course window will most likely break. Anyway that is a later problem.
