Whenever I vote during normal elections I cant find a party whose programme I fully support, choosing instead for the one thats closest to my own ideals. Fuzzy as politics are I therefore cant expect that politicians can find an answer to everything thats on their agenda. And then a referendum seems an adequate and democratic way to contribute to a solution, as long as it does indeed influence the political agenda.

Actually arguments a la its the politicians responsibility feel to me like a mentality of the state has to take care of all my needs. *We* are the state, and our contribution to democracy should not only be limited to merely casting a vote once every 4 years, should it?
