If theres one positive aspect in the rise way to go still, and I doubt whether theyll ever make it of right-wing parties in for instance France and the Netherlands its the fact that it has made politics interesting again for many people. Immigration issues are a major concern for many citizens, and mainstream parties have so far avoided the issue out of political correctness. No we are forced to debate it openly, and that in itself is a healthy development.

The solutions brought forward will hopefully and probably be very different from those advocated by the Front National or Lijst Pim Fortuyn in the Netherlands, but solutions have to be found. And even though Im a Grüne-voter Im not too worried about a CDU/CSU-leadership becoming overly xenophobic all of a sudden. Though closer following of Germanys politics in other countries is always positive. : There are indeed more interesting issues than hair-dye there.

Well I agree with you. But still, Mr. Stoiber identification is not mine, but the cred has to be given for Spiegel and Focus journalists who made a big point of the fact when Mrs Merckel suddenly resigned and let the small CDS of Bayer have the CDU candidate for the election.
