An anonymous writer once defined humility as the ability to see things *as they really are*, i.e. free from any distortions caused by our own preferences and prejudices, and with the awareness of our own and others fallibility. In this sense humility helps in seeing those things that really matter, and discard useless and damaging ego-tripping.
