Christianity is highly varied, whether you like it or not, and while youll certainly find Christians who take the Bible literally you also have lots like me who see the Bible as a formative tool, a source of inspiration not to be taken literally, and religion as a path of continuous self-improvement rather than as a matter of following mere rules and regulations the way you seem to want it.
