The problem with love is that we tend to identify it with romantic feelings of bliss and happiness in which all our needs are met. A kind of status quo where we only get and hardly need to give. To be truly loving persons however with the kind of love that can last for a lifetime we must continuously be open to the unknown, to change and growth, especially within ourselves. Giving including to ourselves is more important and difficult than getting.
