Well, according to neuroscientists consciousness is an emergent phenomenon of brain activity. Philosophically speaking however their arguments are rather questionable. The consciousness that asks the question What is the meaning of life? is not the kind of consciousness that can hear the answer Arthur Deikman. Some things can only truly be understood in silence and awe. And thats where true religion starts.
